Aldermaston is located in central Berkshire and lies south west of Theale, in the Kennet Valley, and east of Thatcham south of the A4. Including Aldermaston Wharf, Woolhampton, Brimpton, Wasing and Padworth. RG7 4LW.

Aldermaston fishing emphatically offers an abundance of angling options. The Kennet and Avon Canal provides ample canal fishing swims, and the River Kennet offers river fishing both by day tickets (Aldermaston Mill) and via local angling clubs.

Besides these venues, there is a rich variety of angling lakes in the vicinity with day ticket fishing available at Seven Lakes and at Aldermaston Mill; furthermore specimen and pleasure fishing on still-waters is supplied on season tickets in the local area.

Although there are no fishing tackle shops in Aldermaston or Aldermaston Wharf, the nearby Lakeside Garden Centre (home to Lakeside Fishing Lake) in Brimpton Common stocks some baits; however, the nearest fishing tackle shop is Tadley Angling at Reading Road, Padworth Common, RG7 4QG.

Aldermaston has no supermarkets to stock up for fishing trips. However, the nearest supermarket is a Sainsbury’s in Tadley: 30a Mulfords Hill, RG26 3JE.

Location

Swallowfield is a village in the Loddon Valley, close to where the Loddon and Blackwater rivers meet. It is in the south of central Berkshire, south of Reading and north of Riseley. RG7 1QY

Angler amenities

River fishing is supplied in Swallowfield by the Blackwater, and to the north by the River Loddon. Just north of the village lies Decoy Pond which provides year round coarse angling.

There are no fishing tackle shops in Swallowfield. However, there are several tackle stores nearby.

There is one to the west at Tadley – Tadley Angling, Reading Road, Padworth Common, Tadley nr Reading, RG7 4QG. Due north in the suburbs of Reading there is Woodley Tackle Box, 181 Wokingham Road, RG6 1LT. Meanwhile to the east at Holme Grange Fishery there is an on-site tackle shop: Wokingham Without, Wokingham RG40 3BJ.

Swallowfield does not have any chain supermarkets. The nearest is Morrisons at Basingstoke Road, Reading RG2 0HB. There is a Londis just to the north west of the village on Eversley Road, Arborfield Cross, RG2 9PQ.

Horton Waterski Lake

The lake is on the south side of  Horton Road, due south of  Queen Mother Reservoir; south of Junction 5 of the M4, north east of Horton and west of Colnbrook. SL3 9NT.

Angling is not permitted on the waterski lake which is home to a variety of water activities.

Horton is a village in the far east of Berkshire, lying on the east bank of the Thames near Poyle. The conurbation is sited to the east of Slough. SL3 9PA.

Newbury lies in west Berkshire, west of Reading and south of the M4, within the Kennet valley. RG14 5AU.

Angler amenities

In Newbury fishing is dominated by the Lambourn and Kennet Rivers, and the Kennet & Avon Canal. The Lambourn offers fly fishing around Newbury on day and season ticket and a lake at Donnington Grove provides trout fishing.
The canal and River Kennet supply river fishing around Newbury and are controlled by angling clubs so fishing is by season ticket only and complies with the usual coarse season.

Newbury has no fishing tackle shop, but there are some in the vicinity. To the south east at Greenham Common there is a tackle store which specialises in sea and predator angling: Rok Max Sports Fishing, Venture West, Greenham Business Park, Thatcham RG19 6HX.

To the east at Thatcham fishing tackle is available at Thatcham Angling Centre, 156 Sagecroft Rd, Thatcham RG18 3BQ

Newbury has several supermarkets to stock up for fishing trips. There is a Sainsburys in the middle of the town at Hector’s Way, RG14 5AB; this is not far from the tackle shop. In the north of Newbury there is a Waitrose on the A4 Oxford Road RG14 1NB. In the east of the town there is a Tesco on the A4 London Road RG14 2BP. A Tesco Extra is present in the south of Newbury at Pinchington Lane RG14 7HB.
