The Thames is a major angling venue in the south of England, providing scores of miles of bank-side fishing for all the main coarse species. The river holds barbel and chub, plenty of pike, huge shoals of large bream, all the silvers such as dace, roach, rudd and bleak, some tench, and of course the mysterious and sought-after carp. Large hard-fighting river carp are caught from the Thames each year, and the lower reaches are targeted for these fish, and also catfish which are rumoured to be very big in those stretches.
Fishing venues are listed from upstream to downstream. At the bottom of the page are links for pages covering Thames fishing venues on a county basis, and on a ticket type basis.
