River Thames, Binsey is a river venue set in flat rural meadows on the edge of Oxford. The upper reach includes the outflow from a weir and also the confluence of the main river with a backwater. A narrower stretch of the Thames is available in the downstream section of the venue.

River Thames, Binsey Location

River Thames, Binsey lies west of Oxford at Binsey between Godstow / Lower Wolvercote and Osney. Angling on the west bank runs from Godstow Lock ( OX2 8PJ ), near Godstow Abbey ruins, along the Thames Path past Binsey village ( OX2 0NL ) and down to Medley Manor Farm. On the east bank angling starts south of Godstow Road and runs down through Port Meadow to the vicinity of Medley Bridge at Fiddler’s Island
At Fiddler’s Island a portion of the river diverts off into Castle Mill Stream and fishing is from the east bank of the slimmer Thames (also known as Fiddler’s Stream at this point) down to Botley Road ( OX2 0AA ).
