Canal fishing at Slough and Iver

Information about fishing at Grand Union Canal: Slough Arm including fishery location, fish species present, ticket type, and fishery controller. Part of a guide to angling in Slough.

Description

A five mile length of canal offering coarse angling year round via day and season ticket (day tickets on the bank). For the club’s webpage for this venue click HERE. The towpath is on the south side of the entire length of the canal, which enjoys less boat traffic than the main drag.

Starting at Stoke Wharf adjacent to B416 Stoke Road in Slough (SL2 5AT) the canal runs alongside Bowers Playing Fields and heads east passing under Wexham Road and the A412 Uxbridge Road, then after a short stretch emerges from the urban environment and arrives at Bloom Park.

From this point onwards the surroundings are more rural with the built up area being on the south side of the canal as it skirts the edge of Slough and runs south of Middle Green. The canal proceeds east under Middle Green Road, then St Mary’s Road, and then a footbridge. At this point it is quite close to the railway that also runs east to west in the vicinity.

The waterway then skirts Langley, runs under the B470 Langley Park Road, and past Iver Golf Course and enters into countryside. It passes under Mansion Lane, and continues for some distance before passing a footbridge. Next it goes under Thorney Lane and then the M25, and a short distance after that it passes another footbridge and crosses the Colne Brook before entering a rural area with Farlows Lake to the north. It crosses the Colne and passes under another footbridge and then enters the final straight to the main Canal; this is again a rural area with little by way of conurbations adjacent to the waterway.
