The Grand Union Canal runs through the county and supplies general coarse fishing on a season ticket basis including for large carp; additionally five rivers including the Ouzel, the Thames, and River Great Ouse flow through the county which accordingly offers miles of bankside fishing for barbel, chub, pike, big bream and silver fish on small, medium and large river beats.
Furthermore, Bucks is dotted with small fishing ponds in picturesque surroundings that provide coarse and game angling. The county is undeniably well supplied with big still-waters, these being present at Iver, Milton Keynes and elsewhere, many of which provide specimen fishing for species such as bream, carp, tench and pike. Moreover, trout fishing is on offer at one beat of the River Great Ouse, and on several lakes across the county. In 2024 one of the county’s venues produced Britain’s biggest ever common carp at over 66lb.
