The Mole splits upstream of the railway, and some free swims are available on the east arm of the river before it re-joins the main flow. This part of the river is located in Dorking. It starts in the north adjacent to the A24 in the vicinity of Longbury Wood, to the north of Box Hill School. Both sides are available as far south as the second railway bridge (the Norbury Park stretch) then only the east bank as far south as the London Road. Most of the River Mole on the east bank from Burford Bridge Hotel to the vicinity of Puddenhole Lake is included, and also a small stretch of the west bank around Castlefields Lake, and another on that bank opposite Burford Bridge Hotel. Location
Brockham is to the east of Dorking, on the south side of the A25. The river runs along the west and south side of the village. RH3 7JW. Fishing is permitted on the north bank only downstream of Borough Bridge; and the stretch for fishing downstream of Borough Bridge runs from the bridge to the area opposite Castlefield Lake (due west of Hillside gardens). Upstream of the bridge fishing is allowed from a small island just north of Brockham Court Farm (south bank) and then from adjacent to a footbridge along to the field south of Nutfield Avenue (north bank only, upstream of the footbridge).
