This lake is part of the Theale Fisheries complex. The lake is sited south of Theale, on the south side of the River Kennet with a feeder stream running along its south bank. The lake is due east of Sulhamstead Lock, north of Bottom Lane and west of Hangar Road. RG7 4AT.

Sonning Eye Pit is a very large lake with islands, and split by a peninsula, supplying coarse angling and specimen carp fishing on a season ticket. Carp to over fifty pounds are present, along with pike and tench. A sailing club is present, and much of the Sonning Eye lake is out of bounds to anglers.
