Barnes fishing

A good guide to fishing in Barnes

Information about angling in Barnes, covering fishing venues, tackle shops, supermarkets, and local weather. Part of a guide to angling in Surrey.

Location

Barnes is a south west London suburb on the Thames, surrounded by the river to the west, north and east. It lies to the north east of Richmond, opposite Hammersmith, and north of the South Circular Road.

Angler amenities

Free fishing is available in Barnes courtesy of the tidal Thames, and a towpath runs alongside the river in this area. To the east of the town at Barn Elms lies Shadwell Pool which offers angling on a season ticket.

Ron’s Guns & Tackle is the local fishing tackle shop at 465, Upper Richmond Road West, SW14 7PU. This is to the south west of Barnes.

There are no major supermarkets in Barnes. Hammersmith to the north has a large Sainsbury’s in the Kings Mall Centre, although this would entail crossing Hammersmith Bridge and entering a busy one way system.  There is a Sainsbury’s in Putney to the south west of Barnes, at 2-6 Werter Road, London SW15 2LJ.
