A quality guide to fishing the Kennet & Avon Canal
A directory of Kennet and Avon Canal fishing venues, this waterway runs from Bath in North Somerset through Wiltshire and western Berkshire along the River Kennet valley into Reading where it meets the Thames.
There are numerous stretches where angling is available, much of it on a season ticket. Downstream of the Canal’s confluence with the River Kennet at Kintbury it is classified as a river and is thus subject to the standard coarse close season.
The Kennet Valley is a complex network of waterways. The river and canal drift in and out of each other and are often one and the same thing.
These venues listed here are mainly Kennet & Avon Canal. Many angling clubs bulk some stretches of river and canal in the same area together as one venue; for the purpose of cataloguing the Kennet & Avon Canal in many of those instances they have been split and treated as separate venues. In some cases it is not feasible to split them out where whole venues encompass confluences and splits.
