I am trying to find information about lesions on fishing for my Grandsons one is nearly 13 and his brother is 11. I bought them gifts of fishing rods but know nothing about fishing.
    Many thanks

    1. You could try your local fishing tackle shop, they tend to be mines of useful angling information and may know someone who could arrange some lessons.
During warmer weather organisations such as the Environment Agency and the Canal & River Trust sometimes run activity days for youngsters who want to try angling. It may be worth keeping an eye on the Twitter feeds for London and the South East.
The Canal & River Trust has some starter videos here https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/enjoy-the-waterways/fishing/fishing-skills/learn-to-fish

  3. My son is 12 and would love to fish at Frensham pond for a few hours tomorrow. Does he need a special licence or am I able to bring him and let him fish?

    1. Frensham Small and Great Ponds are season ticket only. Rushmoor Lakes are day ticket, so you can just turn up and pay to fish. 12 year olds and above do need a Rod Licence.

  4. Hello, My 6 years old son is on holidays at his grandma’s. She lives in Uxbridge by the river Frays (between the M40 and the high street). Can he fish in the river there ? I know it’s possible by Little Britain lake but she hasn’t got a car to take him… so can he fish in the river just behind the house? Will he need a licence? If so, where can he get one and how much is it? We come from France and just haven’t got a clue…?
    Thanks a lot for answering.

  5. Hello, I live in Leigh and this may seem ridiculous to you but, I’d like to get a few sticklebacks for my pond. Could I possibly get some from you, if you have them or, do you know of a locality where they are present, please?
I look forward to hearing from you and thank you for your time.
    Kind regards,
    Davina

  6. Please can you tell me the price of a season ticket for virginia waters. Also is that for 24 hour fishing or just days.

    1. Indeed there is. That part of the Thames falls within the Thames Byelaw Area, and coarse fishing on rivers is banned from 15th March to 15th June inclusive in that Area.
The Thames at Molesey Lock cannot be coarse fished now until June the 16th.
