Location

Tonbridge is a large town in the south of western Kent, north of Royal Tunbridge Wells. The town is intersected by the A21 and the A26. TN9 1TG

Angler amenities

The River Medway flows through Tonbridge and offers significant angling options in the area, with several stretches available. Fishing is controlled by local angling clubs (mainly via season ticket, but some day ticket fishing is provided) and species present in these venues include carp, bream, chub, roach, catfish, and barbel.

To the west of Tonbridge, Haysden and Longfield lakes offer pleasure angling on a season ticket basis for carp, pike, tench, bream, barbel, chub and perch. Meanwhile, on the west side of the town Barden Lake provides specimen angling for carp to over 50lb, pike to over 30lb, bream to double figures, along with large roach and rudd. Nearby, at the Ballast Pit, fishing for big carp is again on offer with fish over 30lb present, along with tench, bream, pike, crucians, perch, roach and rudd. In this vicinity the New Lagoon offers pleasure angling on a season ticket basis.

Oxon Hoath Lake, north east of Tonbridge, provides carp fishing and general pleasure angling in rural surroundings via season ticket from a fishing society.

Tonbridge has a fishing tackle shop – Medway Tackle at 103 Shipbourne Rd, Tonbridge TN10 3EJ.

For stocking up for fishing trips there is a Sainsbury’s in the south of the town at Angel Centre Angel Lane, Tonbridge, TN9 1SF.

South of Tonbridge there is an ALDI at Longfield Road, Tunbridge Wells, TN2 3EW and an ASDA at Longfield Rd, Tunbridge Wells, TN2 3EY.
