Location

Lydd lies on the southern coast of Kent, between Folkestone and Hastings, to the south of Romney Marsh. TN29 9JH.

Angler amenities

There is no river fishing in the Lydd area. However, numerous gravels pits and lakes supply a range of coarse angling options from pleasure angling to specimen fishing for pike, carp and other species.

South east of Lydd near the coast lie the Dungeness Long Lakes which are two long thin lakes in a line containing many lily pads offering coarse angling via season ticket. Species present include pike, tench, rudd, roach, and eels.

To the south of the conurbation the Windsurf Pit and Herons Park Waters are sited. The Windsurf Pit is a large gravel pit in Lydd supplying coarse angling via season ticket for large carp, tench, bream and rudd; other species are also present. Herons Park Waters lake is a long open still-water, with several islands at the centre, offering coarse angling via season ticket.

Just to the north east of Lydd the Whitehall Ponds are located; these are two small ponds in a rural setting supplying coarse angling via season ticket in Lydd.

Right on the northern edge of the conurbation is a three-lake complex run by Mid Kent Fisheries which supply season ticket angling for carp; two venues hold carp in the twenties, whilst one holds massive carp to fifty pounds.

Lydd has no fishing tackle shop, but there are two in nearby conurbations. Romney Angling is the nearest at 59 High St, New Romney TN28 8AH. On the coast due east of Lydd is Seagull Fishing Tackle, 4 The Parade, Greatstone, Romney Marsh TN28 8NP.

Lydd has no supermarkets, but there are some to stock up for fishing trips nearby. A Costcutter is located at Romney Sand Holiday Village, The Parade, Greatstone, New Romney, TN28 8RN, and a Sainsbury’s is to be found at Dymchurch Rd, New Romney, TN28 8GU.
