Canal carping

Canals are home to many carp, and are far less pressured by carp anglers than typical lakes. Canal carp do not tend to grow to such large sizes as in commercial fisheries, but such wild fish can be in excellent condition and supply a serious challenge.

Canals are often busy with boats, and towpaths can have a lot of footfall. The water itself can sometimes hold fearsome snags to trip up the ignorant fisherman. That said, a little observation and plumbing can soon provide useful to data to find the right spots.

Many canal carpers prefer the winter months and have devised tactics to deliver success.
