Grand Union Canal: Middlesex

Fishing the Middlesex Grand Union Canal

Information about fishing on the Grand Union Canal in Middlesex, part of a directory of angling in Middx.

The canal forms a long fishery, entering Middlesex just below Rickmansworth, running along the western edge of Greater London and Middlesex to West Drayton and then tacking eastwards past Hayes, Southall, Osterley to Hanwell, where it heads south to Brentford and the join with the Thames.

This stretch of canal has two spurs: the Slough Arm and the Paddington Arm. The main canal is old, having been constructed between 1793 and 1805, and the Paddington Arm was opened in 1801. The Slough Arm was opened far later in 1882.
