The 60 competitors in this year’s first round qualifier on the River Calder in Mirfield were faced with a tricky river, that was over a foot below seasonal level and running clear.
The majestic Partridge Lakes was the host of the nineteenth round of Fish’O’Mania XXV and the sun shone on the 126 anglers who made their way to the Warrington hotspot. With opportunities running out for hopefuls, there was an excited buzz at the draw and the coveted lakes were; Willows, Covey 5 and Covey 6.
A cracking turnout of 135 anglers made their way to the fantastic, Thirsk, fishery, which is Woodland Lakes. The Eighteenth round of Fish'O'Mania XXV saw overcast, muggy conditions meet the hopefuls at the draw, where all the talk was that Wagtail or Partridge Lake would be the best. However, the fish hadn’t read the script and it was the unfancied Kestrel Lake, that produced the winning weight.
The Angling Trust’s Building Bridges team has appointed Polish-born Janusz Kansik as Project Officer to help educate European anglers about fishing in this country and integrate into the angling community.
